2004 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
IF Levi Hagedorn: Hagedorn is a junior infielder from Iowa with a projectable 6-1 frame. Hitting is going to be his ticket to playing at the college level, especially if he can add some upper body strength. Hagedorn has a good set up at the plate and even though he has a bit of a bat wrap in back, generates good bat speed with a quick trigger, has some hand strength and good lower half involvement. He drove some balls deep into the alleys during batting practice and ripped a nice triple during the Showcase games. Hagedorn gets the ball up in air consistently with wood and if he can do this with metal, too, he’s going to hit some home runs. Defensively, Hagedorn projects out to third base or a corner outfield position. His hands and feet work well in the infield but his actions are a bit slow and deliberate for the mid infield.
