Alonso is a 5-11 senior shortstop from New Jersey with a good frame and the ability to add strength. He's a 7.64 runner who threw 79 mph during infield drills while showing smooth infield actions and a quick release on his throws. Alonso shows good strength with the bat despite his 157 pounds. He has quick hands the show strength at contact. You can tell by looking at his swing that he's hit with some power with metal as he tends to drop his back shoulder and try to lift the ball. Overall, Alonso is a projectable prospect with some interesting tools now. He's also a good student.

Alonso is a 5-10 junior middle infielder from New Jersey. His raw workout numbers didn’t make him stand out (7.57 60, 76 mph arm strength) but Alonso definitely did stand out defensively once the games started. He has very good body control and overall infield actions and made plays all over the field. Alonso’s arm strength and range looked like they were the caliber to play at the next level. Offensively, Alonso had a very sound and polished approach. He hits from a wide stance with a short stride and good loading action with his hands. His swing is short and crisp to the ball and he maintains very good balance through contact. Alonso even showed a bit of power potential during batting practice. Overall, this is the type of young player who we think you can discount the raw tools and watch the way he plays the game and know that he’s nice prospect for the college level.
