2003 Northeast Top Prospect Showcase
Salome is an "04" catcher who grades out high. His 5'9/188 body is extremely strong. He is very muscular, but loose and flexible. He features a MLB plus arm, threw 85 mph to 2B in Wareham and a legit 1.79 pop time in the workout. His ball does run a little and that's the only problem. He's quick behind the plate and has good hands. He even runs close to MLB average, 7.09 on a very slow track in Wareham. At the plate he showed just as good. Nice under control swing that creates exceptional bat speed. He hit one 400' to the opposite field with wood. This could be a very special player, we can't wait to get another look at him, maybe in Jupiter. Angel is a good student.
