Kevin Sias is a 2008 C/3B from Midlothian HS in Midlothian, VA, with a 5'9'', 160 lb. frame and good present strength for his age. He ran the 60 in 7.64 and showed good speed down the line and on the bases for a young catcher. Sias threw 71 mph during catching drills with a best pop time of 2.12. He tends to receive the ball 2-handed and throw with a sequential, multi-part release. He has good arm strength for a sophomore and should improve his throw times with b better mechanics. Sias moves well behind the plate and showed some blocking skills. Offensively, Sias hits out of a wide stance with a rock back load. He has a very aggressive swing and really attacks the ball hard. Sias showed the ability to attack the ball aggressively while still keeping his hands back and driving breaking balls the other way, which is a nice skill in a young hitter. Sias showed good bat speed and made solid line drive contact to all fields. He can handle the bat head and make adjustments. Sias looks like a good young player who should keep developing both offensively and defensively.
