Julio Diez is a 2005 live bodied 5'10" infielder from Miami, FL. He had excellent defensive actions at third base, particularly to the back hand side, and plenty of arm strength. Diez’s defensive skills were impressive and there is no reason that he shouldn’t be able to play second base and perhaps some shortstop as well. Offensively, Diez hits out of a no stride, no load approach with a short, compact swing. He tends to dive in on the ball a bit, but has the hand strength to generate bat speed and get the head of the bat to the ball. Diez had a very high percentage of solid line drives both in batting practice and in the games and looks like he’s a potential high average type of hitter. He should be able to succeed at a very high level.
