Joseph Busalacchi is a 2007 LHP from from Mt. Carmel HS, residing in San Diego, CA, with a 6'2" 183 lb. frame. He has a good pitcher's build. He is long with a broad upper body. Busalacchi needs to focus on staying flexible so he can maximize that frame. A primary pitcher, Busalacchi pitches from an over the top slot and has a clean backside arm action. On the backside he has a shallow take away out of the glove to begin his arm circle. Busalacchi has some arm strength and combined with his physical body, can be considered to have good projectability. He has decent body control and understand how to use his front side for leverage. In January we saw him exclusively use his FB in the 77-80 mph range. That pitch had a little late wrinkle and he showed some pitchability as he used only the FB. Young lefties with FB feel and a body like Busalacchi's should be followed by college baseball.

Joseph Busalacchi is a 2007 LHP/OF from Mt. Carmel High School in San Diego, CA, with a 6'1", 175 lb. frame. Busalacchi was named to the top prospect team at the event. He has a lean and athletic body with a clean arm action. Busalacchi has a balanced delivery over the rubber and gets to a good leverage point with slow and controlled movements. His fastball topped out at 79 mph and he projects to throw harder in the future with his longer limbs and solid mechanics. He threw a looping curveball at 67 mph with a big 12 to 6 break and good depth, and helped Busalacchi struck out four in his three innings of work. Offensively he hits from an upright stance with a line drive swing path. He has a short and quick swing and shows very good bat speed. Busalacchi stays balanced through his swing and made solid contact. Busalacchi is a young player that needs to be followed, and is also a very good student.
