John Matthew Quintero is a 2007 C/OF with a 5'11'', 190 lb. frame from San Gabriel, CA, who attends Saint Francis HS. Large frame with present strength throughout. Defensively Quintero has good arm strength (76 mph) and consistent pop times under 2.00 with a best time of 1.97. His feet work well on both his throws, and he moves well side to side blocking balls in the dirt. Quintero likes to throw and he is very aggressive behind the plate. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a straight away and crouched stance. Quintero has a line drive swing plane and is short to the ball. There is strength in his swing, especially to his pull side where he hits the ball hard. Quintero has very good speed for a catcher. He ran a 6.97-sixty and runs well on the bases. Quintero is a solid catch and throw guy with power potential at the plate. He is also a very good student.
