Joey Paciorek is a 2007 right hand hitting infielder/pitcher from Blaine HS, residing in Blaine, WA. He was actually listed as a primary shortstop, with secondary positions P/1B/OF, so that would make him Mr. Versatility. In any case, he has a thick, physically mature build on a strong 6'3" 225 lb. frame and is much more athletic than he first would appear. Paciorek best projects as a corner infielder and was ranked #57 among PG National Top 100 position players. At the plate he, like all the other hitters at PG National had a chance to show they could handle velocity and he was one hitter that did just that. He has strong, lively hands that work very well at the plate. He is competitive and aggressive with the bat but does not have to load up to swing hard, that comes from his ability to fire those hands. Paciorek gets good extension through contact and made a lot of hard barrel contact, with the ball coming off his bat well. He easily got to the pull side and showed that he has above average raw power. The more he plays against top level pitching, the better he will be. His bat is going to play at each level he plays at. In the infield Paciorek showed much more agility than his body suggests he might have. His feet are still best for 3rd base, but he was not out of place at this level at shortstop. The ball came easily out of his hand and he showed slightly above average raw arm strength. His hands are decent and he should make a very quality three bagger. On the mound Paciorek had a short arm action and hid the ball a bit. His delivery was low effort and he competed well with his mid-80s fastball and a breaking ball that had some bite. He is a position player for the long run, but it was interesting to see him compete on the mound. He looks like he loves to play, no matter where he is on the field. Paciorek ran 4.67 home/1st, with a 7.23 60 time. He is a D1 prospect that in time should develop nicely into a soild pro prospect, though it is reasonable to suggest that his hitting tools could be sent out sooner. He is the nephew of former MLB player Tom Paciorek.
