Andrew Jarvi is a 2007 C/3B/1B from Orange Lutheran HS, residing in Anaheim, CA, with a 6'0" 195 lb. frame. Jarvi was named to the top prospect team at the California Underclass Showcase. He has a thick, strong and physical build, the type of body that looks top be able to handle the rigours of the catching position. A right handed hitter, Jarvi starts with his hands held high. He made consistently good barrel contact and showed that his hands work from beginning to end in his swing. He started with his hands high and finished with them high. A big strong player, Jarvi also displayed some balance and that he has current gap power, with more in store down the road. Also impressive was that he hit offspeed pitches into the middle of the field and was able to get his strong hands and arms free from his body. He looked to be a 5-7 hole type of RBI type hitter, depending on the team around him. On defense the ball exited Jarvi's hand well with his slinging arm action. Though that arm action is not traditional nor usually too functional at the catcher position, Jarvi showed himself to be an accurate thrower with workable pop times. He has coachable skills for the position and possesses strong hands that suggest he can handle a stiff FB as a receiver. Jarvi has the potential to bring the power/power combo (bat/arm) to the catcher position and is a solid midsize D1 prospect.

Andrew Jarvi is a 6' 190 pound 2007 catcher and third baseman from Anaheim, California who attends Orange Lutheran High School. He has a strong mature build with sloped shoulders and the room to add more strength. He definitely has the body to handle the abuse of catching every day. Andrew has sure hands and a quick release to stop most base runners. His pop time was a 2.00 and he topped out at 73 mph. He handles himself very well behind the dish and is assertive and has the confidence one likes to see handle a pitching staff. Jarvi is a strong hitter who drives the ball mainly to his power side. He is a middle of the order hitter who will drive in runs and hit for power. He keeps his hands held high with an average base. Andrew is a good student as well.
