Jeffress is a very athletic 6-1, 180 lb right handed pitcher from Virginia. He's an AFLAC All-American who is one of the top ranked players in the 2006 class and a possible high pick in next June's draft. Jeffress was "discovered" at last year's Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase and it's been a whirlwind past 12 months for him. He came out to UNC to throw what amounted to a bullpen for him. He threw 2 innings and threw 87-90 with easy action and little effort. Jeffress has been up to 97-98 mph this summer. His pitching mechanics have really come together nicely. Jeffress' delivery bears much resemblance to a young Dwight Gooden's, with the high balanced leg kick and the full arm stroke coming through. Jeffress also showed tight spin on a 74-76 mph curveball, although not of Gooden-esque sharpness. Jeffress also took a few at bats and showed why he would be considered a top centerfield prospect if he weren't a pitcher, showing plus bat speed and tons of natural athleticism.

Jeremy Jeffress is a 2006 right handed pitcher from South Boston, VA with an athletic build at 6-1, 180 lbs. He is an excellent all around athlete who runs the 60 in 6.76 and has plus bat speed that would make him a top prospect centerfielder if he wasn't the hardest throwing 2006 pitcher in the country. Jeffress has a smooth, athletic delivery that is reminiscent of Dwight Gooden's. He uses his legs well and throw swith minimal effort. Jeffress's fastball explodes out of his hand at 95 mph and he threw harder at other times during the summer. He has a special arm! Jeffress' slurve type breaking ball flashes potential at 78 mph but is still developing at this point, as is his 72 mph change up. Jeffress was a relative unknown just a year ago and is just beginning to adjust to his high ceiling potential, so the sky's the limit with this young right hander.

Jeremy Jeffress is a very live bodied 6'1", 2006 athlete from South Boston, Virginia, who was a hands down choice as the top prospect at the Southeast Underclass Showcase. He’s a primary pitcher, but is also a prospect as an outfielder as well. Jeffress throws from a full hands over the head wind up with a big leg kick and high ¾ release point. He gets very good plane to the plate on his pitches and his 89-91 mph fastball had tons of life, both boring and cutting at different times. Jeffress’ arm stroke is tension free and smooth. Jeffress threw a 72 mph curveball that had good 12/6 spin, and also dropped his arm slot on occasion and threw a 74-75 mph sweeping slurve to give hitters a different look. With his athleticism and very projectable body, Jeffress could be a mid-90s type pitcher in a couple of years. As a position player, Jeffress has good speed at 7.15 and some pop in his bat, and obviously enough arm strength to excel on defense. We also understand that Jeffress is a very good basketball player who started on a good high school team at point guard as a sophomore. There are lots of point guards out there, but not many pitchers with potential mid-90s power fastballs, so we hope that Jeffress takes his baseball seriously.
