Johnathan Solazzo is a 2009 3B/P with a 6'2'', 195 lb. frame from Mississauga, ON who attends St Paul's SS. He has a large athletic frame and very good present strength, especially for his age. Solazzo has a busy hand load and a long stride towards the ball and develops solid bat speed through the ball. He keeps his hands inside the ball well and showed his best power to the opposite field. He has the strength and hitting tools to keep improving with the bat. Defensively, Solazzo has plenty of arm strength for third base and makes strong, accurate throws. His footwork is a bit slow and he'll have to work on his quickness to the ball, which will help soften his hands as well. He is a 7.43 runner. Solazzo also pitched and threw 83 mph from an over the top release point with a rolling 69 mph curveball.
