Phillip Owen is a 2008 RHP with a 6'1'', 180 lb. frame from Richmond Hill, ON who attends King City SS. He has a slender, thin build and developing strength. Owen has a slow paced delivery with a full hands over the head start. He spins off his front side on release and will need to simplify his delivery and make it more consistent. In fact, Owen started off throwing 78-81 mph his first inning when his mechanics were all over the place and when he settled down and was more consistent in his second inning of work, he topped out at 85 mph and was regularly 83 mph. Owen's secondary pitch was a mid 70's slider that had nice sweeping action and good depth. He was able to throw strikes with both pitches and work ahead effectively. He should continue to improve as he develops more consistency and gets stronger. Owne is also an excellent student.
