2003 Spring Showcase
Belk is a Junior Catcher who, at 5 foot 10 and 155 showed a good arm defensively and a solid bat offensively. He ran a 7.35 in the 60 and moves well behind the dish. We imagine he could also play another position but his 1.99 pop time coupled with his quick feet make him a College prospect at the catcher position. He took the mound and showed 78 mph velocity with a 64 mph curve and 70 mph change-up. It was obvious that he knew what he was doing on the hill but his top talent lies in the field and with the bat. We liked his swing. He presents a level swing plane and drove the middle in BP and in games. It looks like he understands a lot about the game.
