Jared Norris is a 2007 1B/P/OF with a 6'2'', 185 lb. frame from Urbandale IA, who attends Urbandale HS. He has an athletic frame with good projection to get stronger. Norris is a smooth fielding first baseman with quick feet and good range on batted balls and soft hands on thrown balls. He has good athletic balance and actions. He moves well enough to play the outfield but needs some work on his throwing fundamentals at that position. Offensively, Norris showed a balanced, relaxed approach at the plate with a short, contacted oriented swing that sprayed line drives to all fields. We've seen Norris in the past with more raw bat speed and power and it looked like he was working on more of a contact, high average approach. Norris also pitched some, showing a fastball that was 75-77 mph and touched 79. He's a finesse pitcher who throws strikes and throws lots of big breaking 65 mph curveballs to keep hitters off balance. Norris is a good student who has committed to Yavapai CC.

Jared Norris is a strong and projectable 6-1, 190 lb junior first baseman/outfielder from Iowa. He's a good one spot athlete who shows his balance and coordination with very smooth defensive actions at first base. He's a 7.67 runner under way. Norris his from a high hand set up at the plate and takes an aggressive, full swing with good bat speed. He will be late occasionally to the ball due to his high hands but his strength and leverage makes the ball jump hard when he gets the bat head into the zone. Norris showed his power in both the games and in batting practice and he could get even stronger with normal development. He's a young hitter who needs to be watched carefully and he could be real sleeper as a good athlete with some strength and hitting skill. His defensive ability at first base is a plus but his bat will carry him. Norris is also a good student.
