Jake is a 2006 grad from Beaumont, Texas with a nice broad shouldered frame to add strength to. He throws from a low 3/4's arm slot and will sometimes drop down to almost sidearm. Despite his low release point, Jake is able to get very good spin and tilt to his 68 mph curveball. This can become a nice pitch for him with more development. Jake's fastball was in the 82-84 mph range and had some boring and sinking action when he kept it down in the strike zone. Jake also threw a 73 mph change up. Jake's mechanics and command are still a little raw and a consistent release point would help him, but with his live athletic body and potential to get really strong, we like his chances of improving. Keep an eye on him.
