Jacob Walkowicz is a 2006 catcher from Loveland, Colorado. He is one of the hardest working and enthusiastic players we’ve seen all year, or really any year for that matter. This young man loves to play and is into the game every minute of every inning. He’s the type of catcher who runs back to the backstop to get foul balls instead of waiting for the on deck hitter to wander over. Walkowicz has a short, very strong build that’s seen plenty of weight work. He has short actions both behind the plate and with a bat in his hand. Walkowicz showed some gap to gap power when he gets his hands extended and makes consistent contact. Defensively, he keeps his pop times in the 2.0 to 2.1 range and works well with pitchers. Any coach is going to enjoy and benefit from having Walkowicz on his team.

Jacob Walkowicz is a 5'8/185 2006 C/OF from Loveland, CO. Walkowicz emerged as one of the Perfect Game staff’s favorite players in Waco, as this 2006 catcher participated in both showcases and showed an outstanding hustling attitude every second he was on the field. He has a very stout and strong football body at 5'8", 185 lbs., and has obviously done a ton of work to get that strong. One senses that "work" and "fun" to Walkowicz are pretty much the same thing. Because of his build and short arms and legs, all of Walkowicz’s baseball actions are short and fairly quick. His arm strength is just OK, but Walkowicz did a very good job getting rid of the ball quickly and making accurate throws. At the plate, Walkowicz has a short rotational swing that lacks extension for power, but he does make consistent line drive type contact. Walkowicz’s tools are playable for the next level, but his attitude and approach to the game will make him some coach’s favorite player. Jacob is a good student.

Jacob Walkowicz -- Walkowicz is a sophomore catcher from Colorado with a short, stocky body and significant strength in his hands and arms. He’s really worked hard to get this strong. Walkowicz has good lower body life and really did a good job aggressively blocking balls from the catcher position and showing leadership on the field. We hope that he’s able to increase his arm strength because his approach to the game fits the position very well. We think that Walkowicz would have a good chance to be a productive offensive player with a different hitting style at the plate. He has a stiff back side right now and a right field approach that leaves the bat head consistently late coming into the zone. With his hand strength and live lower half, this is a young athlete who can be turning on balls and attacking them. Jacob is a good student.
