Boidock is an "04" C/P from Plano, TX. At 5'10/165 he has a lean strong body with room for adding more strength. He shows good athletic ability with his running speed and instincts. Behind the plate he shows a strong accurate throwing arm and good quickness. He has loose actions, soft hands and excellent receiving ability. And he's a good enough athlete to play other positions. At the plate he shows a good well balanced swing with good controlled bat speed. He'll hit the ball hard to all fields with some gap power. On the mound he threw 80 mph with a nice loose arm action. His 11-5 breaking ball showed some sharpness and deception in the upper 60s. Boidock is a top student who should be able to compete at a high level.

Boidock showed us a some real solid skills and very good instincts both behind the plate and at bat. His best defensive tools are in his ability to receive the ball and work the game. Boidock is also a gamer type, who made a great hustling play on a pop up during the game. He’s going to have to work on his footwork and arm strength to take his defensive game to the highest level. Boidock has a good approach at the plate and just lacks some hand strength and quickness right now to keep him from being a better hitter with the wood. He stroked a few balls well in batting practice and showed that he could drive the ball to the alleys. He battled some of the hardest throwers at this showcase with his short compact stroke. He is an excellent student and should play a high level of college baseball..

Boidock is a catcher who showed a nice bat in Waco. His frame is not big but he handles himself well at the plate and showed us that he can receive top pitching without missing a beat. His pop times were in the 2.09 - 2.19 range and he can throw. His bat was his best overall tool. He did hit good pitching and his swing was simple enough to find the ball with the meat of the barrel with regularity. He did not swing himself out of balance and stayed inside the ball. He did pitch and threw some moving fastballs in the high 70s. It did not out-weigh his hitting and catching ability. There is a place for him in a good college system. J. Stephen is an outstanding student.
