RHP Ivan Rusova (Toronto, ON, Canada): We’ve seen Rusova extensively the past month. He has first rate arm strength and tops out at 91-93 with a fast, smooth arm stroke. When Rusova’s on top of the ball his 77 mph curveball is sharp, too. He has struggled with his control and pitching mechanics, though, and he backs off to throw strikes. He still remains a highest level prospect and some club might just pull the string. Rusova will attend Chipola (FL) JC and should be a top level draft and follow if he doesn’t sign.

Rusova is a very athletic looking senior right handed pitcher from Canada. He’s an excellent runner at 6.82 and moves gracefully around the field, although he doesn’t play a position. Rusova throws easily with a full arm swing in back and a fast, easy arm action out front. He’s one of the few pitchers you’ll see who warm up before an inning at the same velocity he throws to hitters….in Rusova’s case at 90-91 mph….and he looks relaxed doing it. We’ve seen Rusova up to 93 mph and it looks like there is plenty more in his arm. Rusova’s curveball is a hard, sharp breaking at 74-78 mph and it’s better the harder he throws it. He also turns over his change some at 83 mph. Rusova didn’t throw especially well from a performance standpoint at the showcase but his talent is obvious. He was rushing his delivery and leaving pitches up in the strike zone, but he hasn’t pitched much yet this spring. He is a top level prospect with a very bright future.

Ivan Rusova is a 2005 right handed pitcher from Toronto Ontario Canada with a projectable pitchers body at 6 ft. 2 185 pounds. He pitches from a 3/4 slot with a loose arm and a clean delivery. His fastball topped out at 89 mph with late life. He throws a hard curveball with good late bite at 72-78 mph. He throws a solid change at 75-77 mph with good armside fade. He has a very consistent arm speed on all his pitches, and his change is very deceptive at times. He ran a 6.88 in the 60, and showed very good athleticism. He is an athletic pitcher with a projectable body, and will be a very effective high level college pitcher. He has thrown 90+ and should get some serious draft interest. Looks like he was taught well.
