Alexander Tempesta is a 2008 OF/P/1B with a 5'11'', 150 lb. frame from Chapel Hill, NC who attends East Chapel Hill HS. He has a slender build with a young look to him. Tempesta is a very good defensive outfielder who really showed nice range in centerfield during games. He played centerfield with confidence and went after balls hard. Tempesta's arm strength is solid as well, although he will have to work on improving his accuracy. Offensively, Tempesta hits out of a wide stance with a sweeping rotational swing. He leans back to get the bat going and is looking to lift the ball, despite of his speed and quickness. Tempesta's hitting style doesn't reflect his tools, it's a long power approach and he needs to shorten and quicken things up. Tempesta also pitched and his arm worked well from a high 3/4's release point, although he had problems repeating his delivery. He threw 79-81 mph with a 66 mph CB.
