Garrett Hix is a 2009 1B/3B with a 5'11'', 175 lb. frame from Columbus, GA who attends Brookstone HS. He has a compact build with good stocky strength. Hix is a front foot hitter who uses his strong, quick hands very well to create a smooth and effective swing with good bat speed. Hix hit the ball hard to the middle of the field consistently and even smoked a double over the centerfielder's head during one game. He does a good job of staying balanced even when his lower body is out front. Hix looks like he's going to hit. Defensively, he has good footwork around the bag at first base and stays balanced. His bat will carry him down the road. Hix is also a good student.
