2005 Unsigned Seniors Showcase
Sharp is a 6-3, 195 lb catcher from Tennessee with a strong, well proportioned body. He has good present strength and smooth athletic actions. Sharp ran the 60 in 7.34, a good time for a big catcher on a wet track, and threw 76 mph with a best pop time of 1.88 during workouts. Sharp was one of the better defensive players at the Unsigned Showcase. He showed a very quick release on his throws during the games and plenty of arm strength to throw out runners. His shifting and blocking was also impressive. Sharp hit much better in games against live pitching than in batting practice, especially in showing his power and natural bat speed. He has good balance and plate coverage and did a nice job of making consistent contact while being able to drive his pitch when he got it. Overall Sharp has a nice combination of defensive and offensive skills and the type of body and athleticism you like to see on a college level catcher. He is also a strong student who should have no problem qualifying at most schools. He is a DI player!
