Cody Ellis is a 2010 3B/C/SS with a 5'11'', 145 lb. frame from Timberlake, NC who attends Person HS. He has a good frame with some strength projection. Ellis' best tool is his bat. He switch hit during batting practice but it was evident that he hasn't hit much from the right side and was much better in all areas hitting left handed. Ellis has some bat speed left handed and battles pitchers hard. He tends to reach for pitches and hit around the ball and makes his best contact when he stays inside and hits to the middle of the field. What position Ellis ends up at is an open question. He has a low, slinging arm action and well below average arm strength from both the infield and behind the plate. He may end up in the outfield if he can improve his running speed.
