Greg Hendrix is a 2006 LHP/1B/OF from St. Pius X High School in Atlanta, Georgia, with a 6'4'', 170 lb. frame. He is a tall and lean pitcher with long limbs and a smooth motion. He throws from a high 3/4 arm slot with a short arm circle on the backside. Hendrix has a lively arm and a fastball that topped out at 81 mph. He keeps the ball down in the zone with good control, and he projects to throw harder in the future. He throws a solid curveball at 65 mph with good depth. He also mixes in a 69 mph change-up, but needs to maintain the same arm speed on the pitch. At the plate he is a contact type hitter with a strong top hand. Hendrix put a charge in a few balls in batting practice, and has projectable power.

Greg Hendrix is a 2006 LHP/OF/1B from St. Pius X in Atlanta, GA, with a 6'4", 170 lb. frame. Has a good pitcher's frame with strength and athletic actions. He throws with a nice and easy arm action from a 3/4 arm slot. His fastball topped out at 85 mph, and Hendrix has the ability to move the ball in and out and hit his spots. His curveball has bite at 67-69 mph and should be a very good out pitch for him. Hendrix also showed a feel for his change up from 74-76 mph, and it is a solid third pitch for him. He knows how to mix his pitches and he attacks hitters showing good pitchability. His frame, lanky long arms, and arm action lead you to believe he will throw harder in the future. Offensively he is a left handed hitter with good present power. He really hit the ball well in the games with several deep hit balls that had the outfielders running. Hendrix has an excellent approach and hits line drives to all parts of the field. This two-way prospect needs to be followed closely.

Hendrix is a 6-3 junior left handed pitcher from Georgia with a good frame and good sloping shoulders. He showed some nice athletic ability and arm strength during outfield drills, running a 7.3 60 and throwing 84 mph. That arm strength didn’t translate completely to the mound due to some mechanical problems. Hendrix pitched at 77 mph and topped out at 80 mph during his four innings of work. He opens very early during his delivery and spins off hard to the third base side on release, leaving his arm consistently late getting through. This affects both his stuff and his command. Hendrix’ curveball was 65-68 mph and had a small break and he also threw a couple of 68 mph change ups. Hendrix also showed some potential with the bat but suffered from the same type of problem at the plate; he opens and pulls off the ball very early. If he can get more directional in all his actions, Hendrix has the chance to make significant improvements and become a very nice prospect.
