Patrick Carroll is a 2010 MIF/P with a 6'0'', 150 lb. frame from Auburn, AL who attends Auburn HS. He has a lean athletic body and some strength projection. Carroll has a simple swing that creates line drive swing that stays on the plate of the ball well. He makes consistent solid line drive contact, although he doesn't have the strength right now to drive the ball with authority. More lower half use in his swing will help, although with more upper body strength. His style of hitting works for him, though. Carroll has good hands in the infield and his arm works well from a quick release. He will need to improve his speed and quickness to stay in the middle of the field; third base is a possible option down the road. Carroll also pitches. He showed some arm speed with a smooth, compact arm action. His fastball was in the 75-78 mph range and he threw a 67 mph curveball. Carroll is also a very good student.
