Gib Dannehower -- Dannehower is a big and physical 6-4 junior left handed pitcher with good projection for future strength gains. He throws from a calm, calculated ¾’s delivery with smooth actions. Dannehower topped out at 84 mph on his fastball during his 3 innings of work, good velocity for a 16 year old southpaw, and it looks like there is more in his arm. He had good, consistent tailing action on his fastball and would sometimes even adjust his grip and get some cutting movement. Dannehower throws his curveball at 64-65 mph and he could get better velocity and sharpness on this pitch. He also turns over a nice change up at 71-73 mph. One thing that would help Dannehower in game situations is to pick up his pace between pitches some. Gib is a very good student as well. Look for him to create a lot of DI interest and possible MLB scouting interest.
