Leonardo Suarez is a 2008 LHP/OF with a 6'0'', 175 lb. frame from Miramar, FL who attends Everglades. He has an athletic build with room to add strength. Leonardo throw from an over the top arm slot and has a short circle arm action. He had solid mechanics, but at times it looked like he was a bit to mechanical instead of just going out and pitching. He did a good job of mixing in three pitches and saved some bullets in his arm by doing a nice job of pitching to contact. His fastball had some run to keep hitters off balance. He threw a big curveball that was a nice change of pace. He also mixed in a decent change up as a second off-speed pitch. With some work he should be able to add some velocity. At the plate he had a slightly closed stance and was short to the ball. Leonardo is a good student who is a knowledgeable player and enjoys being on the field.
