Karl Turner is a 2008 1B/RHP with a 6'6'', 225 lb. frame from Winnetka, CA, who attends Bishop Alemany HS. Turner has good size with present strength in his body. Defensively he has nice footwork at first base that puts him in the proper fielding position. He fields well. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a closed and crouched stance, and he gets up on the plate. Turner is an aggressive hitter who stays balanced through his swing. He has strength in his swing with a slight lift swing plane that helps produce easy raw power. During batting practice, Turner showed plus raw power hitting some very deep balls. On the mound he throws from a 3/4 arm slot with a balanced delivery. He gets tail and sink on his fastball that topped out at 80 mph. He throws a heavy ball that should induce round balls. He also mixes in a 66 mph breaking ball, and a 61 mph change. He can spin his breaking ball, and Turner allowed only 1 hit in 3 innings of work.
