Francisco Gomez is a 2005 catcher/first baseman from Gurabo PR with a strong body and muscular lower half at 5 ft. 11 185 pounds. He hits from a crouched stance with a wide base and a small balanced stride. He aggressively attacks the ball with the bat head and generates a lot of bat speed. He stays inside the ball well and hit hard line drives to all fields. He took a very nice BP and he hit good pitching well during the games. Behind the plate, he had very good blocking skills with good lateral movement. He popped a 2.04 during the workout, and threw out a runner with a 2.13 during a game. He has a decent arm at 73 mph, and could bring down those pop times significantly with better footwork. He is a solid catcher and his hitting potential makes him a high level prospect.
