Stehle is a 6-1, 200 lb senior catcher from Virginia with good present strength. He showed advanced defensive tools and skills behind the plate in addition to having a strong, durable body for the position. Stehle does a particularly good job of playing defense on his toes, which enables him to shift and move quickly. His arm strength was solid but Stehle was able to put up sub 2.00 pop times and make good game throws because of his footwork and quickness. At the plate, Stehle has a all or nothing approach that produced some of each in the games. He has a long, powerful swing with very good extension through the ball. The two times he made contact during the games; one went 400 feet well over the left centerfield fence, the other went off the right centerfield fence. Stehle definitely has big time power and the key will be to increase his contact ratios without taking away from his aggressiveness and bat speed. Good follow who can catch and hit at the college level. Stehle is also a good student.

Evan Stehle is a 2006 catcher from Richmond, Virginia, with a strong 6'2", 205 lb. frame. Stehle has advanced catching skills with a strong arm and good transfers. That combination helped him produce solid pop times in the 2.00 range. He also has quick feet with good blocking skills. Stehle is a right handed hitter with a line drive swing plane and good bat speed. He has a gap to gap approach with present college level raw power, and we think he has the chance to develop big time power in the future. Stehle keeps his hands inside the ball well, and the ball jumps of his bat at contact. He has the tools to be a top level hitter. Stehle isn't the fastest runner, but we are not sure any player is going to work as hard as him. Stehle is a great hustler who looks like he loves to play the game. With his combination of tools and hustle, he will be successful at the next level. Stehle is also a very good student.

Evan Stehle is a 2006 catcher from Richmond, Virginia, with a very athletic and strong frame at 6'2", 205lbs. Stehle was the top position prospect at the event. Behind the plate he was very consistent with pop times ranging from 2.00 to 2.13. The velocity on his throws topped out at 72 mph. Stehle has very good feet, and moves well when receiving the ball. He has easy, clean transfers, and did not bobble a ball in 10 throws. Stehle is a very good framer with soft hands, and is athletic and agile. He is a top level D1 caliber catcher whom every college should want to see. His throws where very accurate, and he shows good carry through the bag. Stehle is a right handed hitter with outstanding bat speed. He has a very good approach at the plate with a slight rock back load and very strong hands. He has good balance throughout his swing, and shows college level power. He has big time power potential, and he can rip anything on the inner half of the plate. Stehle can also go down and get pitches low in the zone, which typically is tough for right handed hitters to do. Stehle showed very smooth running form, and posted a 5.39 forty yd. time. Stehle is a top 2006 prospect.
