Evan Chambers is a 2007 right hand hitting outfielder from Lakeland HS, residing in Lakeland, FL. Chambers has a thick, very strong, compact body. His 5'11" 205 lb. frame looks like the body you would find in a football backfield. However, Chambers is in the right sport. He can hit and play the game and was ranked #53 among PG National Top 100 position players. A week later in Joplin he was one of the hitting stars of that tournament and looked like he just used the opportunity to face all the big time arms at PG National as a tune-up for the Tournament of Stars. Chambers has a short power stroke and the ball jumps off his bat. He consistently makes hard barrel contact and though he is not pretty, his instinct to hit is very good. He is aggressive but under control and showed that he has plus hand/eye coordination at the plate. He can get to a good fastball in any part of the zone and can handle mid-90s velocity. Chambers has very strong hands and fires them easily. He is capable of hitting for big power numbers and high average and is a tough one to pitch too because he is not picky. In the outfield he showed that he has a strong arm that carries well. He is a good left fielder and could also be seen as a quality right or centerfielder. He ran 4.34 home/1st and posted a laser timed 6.74 60. Chambers is not the body type that usually gets scouts excited because there isn't the opportunity for real positive future projection, but they are not going to be able to ignore his bat. He is a legitimate professional prospect and if he were to end up in college, it is very scary to consider him with an aluminum bat in his hands for three years.

Chambers is a very strong and very athletic 5-10, 195 lb outfielder from Florida. Despite his being a 2007 prospect it seems like we’ve been watching him play for a couple of years. Chambers has powerful legs and hips like a sprinter or football running back and has the same type of speed. He ran 6.73 on the Fort Myers sponge, probably in the 6.5 range on a dry track. He also showed college level arm strength by throwing 86 mph in the outfield. Chambers hits from a tall stance with a rock back load and generates very good bat speed. He drives the ball hard on contact but tends to raise up during his swing and pull off, which creates a lot of empty swings, especially on inside pitches. Chambers has the raw talent to be an impact hitter down the road as he makes some adjustments and refines his hitting approach. Chambers is a very good student as well.

Evan Chambers -- Chambers is a very physically strong freshman outfielder from Florida who competed well at the WWBA World Underclass during the fall. We’d have thought he’d be playing football at that time of year, because if there is anyone whose frame and raw physical tools fit the running back mold, Chambers is it. He’s 5-11, 200 lbs with a very strong lower half. Chambers can fly, especially for a 14 year old, and is well above average on the Major League scale right now in the 60 and runs consistent 4.3’s to first base. Chambers hits from a no load, soft stride approach and jumps out on his front side very quickly. His strong hands generate good bat speed and he showed the ability to make solid contact. He’s also a patient hitter with an idea of the strike zone for his age. Chambers’ current approach isn’t going to allow him to hit with his maximum power potential with wood. He’ll have a much higher ceiling staying back and getting his ultra strong lower half involved, but he has plenty of time to make adjustments and seems like a very smart player. He’s going to be a constant on the top prospect charts. It's hard to think he's only a freshman. Evan is a very good student as well.
