2007 Spring Top Prospect Showcase
Jason Brown is a 2008 OF with a 6'2'', 185 lb. frame from Dubuque, Iowa, who attends Hempstead High School. Brown has a good frame that is projectable. He runs well in the sixty (7.00) and moves well on the bases and in the field. Defensively he showed solid arm strength from the outfield throwing 80 mph. At the plate he is a left handed hitter who hits from a straight away stance with a high hand set. Brown has a balanced approach at the plate, and uses leg lift trigger for his timing device. There is strength in his swing, and he shows bat speed through the hitting zone. Brown takes an aggressive swing with a slight lift through the zone at times. Once on the bases he runs well showing instincts and the ability to take the extra base. Brown is a good student as well.
