Eric Lavoie is a 2008 C/1B with a 6'0'', 225 lb. frame from Geneva, Florida, who attends Oviedo High School. Lavoie has present strength in his body with a large frame. Defensively he has an accurate arm from behind plate. Lavoie has a good transfer from glove to hand on his throws to second base producing pop times in the 2.1 range. He also has solid blocking ability. At the plate he is a right handed hitter who hits from a slightly closed stance with a slightly crouched stance. Lavoie has a spread stance and doesn't take a stride keeping himself balanced. He makes consistent mid-field contact. Lavoie gets leverage at the point of contact showing projectable power. He is also a patient hitter with upside. Lavoie is a good student as well.

Eric Lavoie is a 2008 C/1B with a 6'0'', 230 lb. frame from Geneva FL, who attends Oviedo HS. He has a thick, wide build that has good strength but which could be firmed up. Lavoie is a good looking hitter who looked very comfortable facing top level 90 mph pitching prospects. He hit out of a wide stance with very little lower half involvement in his swing. He has strong hands that are also quick and generates good bat speed. Lavoie is balance and leveraged at contact and drove the ball hard against good pitching, mostly to what would have been the middle of the field. He was a good looking young hitter. Defensively, Lavoie has some agility and shifting issues because of his size but did a good job shifting and stays balanced on his feet. He received the ball smoothly out front but will have to work on receiving curveballs. His footwork on his throws was fundamentally sound. How he handles his conditioning will go a long way in determining if Lavoie can remain behind the plate, but his bat plays. Lavoie is a good student.
