Ben LePere is a 2009 LHP with a 6'1'', 215 lb. frame from Brentwood, TN who attends Brentwood Academy. He has a low waisted, broad shouldered build with very good overall strength. LePere has a full delivery and comes out of it early and lands very open and never gets extended out front over his front leg. There is more velocity in his arm with better direction and leverage at release. LePere's fastball was 72-74 mph and pretty straight. He threw a low 60's curveball and was very consistent with both his fastball and curveball in throwing strikes and working ahead in counts. He also mixed in a few change ups and showed a good idea of how to pitch. LePere used his strength well with the bat during games. He has a long swing but swings the bat aggressively and the ball jumps off his bat well. LePere is also a good student.
