Eric McKnight is a 2008 1B with a 6'2'', 210 lb. frame from Santee, CA, who attends West Hills HS. McKnight is a young player with an extra large frame and present strength. Defensively he moves well around the first base bag with playable fielding skills. At the plate he hits from a straight away and slightly crouched stance. McKnight uses a power approach at the plate with a good bat path to the ball. He shows good bat speed through the hitting zone, and hits line drives to all parts of the field. McKnight stays balanced throughout his swing getting good leverage at the point of contact. Strength in his swing with projectable power in the future. He can really turn on the inside fastball putting a charge in the ball. McKnight projects as a middle of the order run producer who will hit for power in the future. He is also an excellent student.

Eric McKnight is a 2008 1B from West Hills HS, residing in Santee, CA, with a 6'2" 200 lb. frame. McKnight is a full bodied young man with some present day strength. A right handed hitter, McKnight has a short swing and is a pull hitter. A strong young man, he has good bat speed and the ball exits his bat well. He is not polished with the bat, but his hard topspin ground balls someday may turn into ringing doubles in the gap and a few round-trippers. McKnight is aggressive to the front side of his swing, a full weight shift. But because his contact his hard and those ground balls in play are tough to handle, he is going to get hits. His power potential will come with an ability to use more patience to use the whole field. On defense the ball exited his hand well and overall he was an adequate fielder within a stationery area. As a young '08 with a body that still has a chance to firm up, he should be followed due in part to the way the ball leaves his bat. More time to develop may be necessary after high school, JC seems a likely route.

Eric McKnight is a 2008 1B/P/OF from West Hills HS in Santee, CA, with a 6'1", 210 lb. frame. He has sloped shoulders with a mature lower half with room in the upper torso. In the outfield he takes good routes, and he has good balance on ground balls in the infield. He handles himself well around the first base bag and is aggressive on groundballs. On the mound he has good balance in his delivery with an abbreviated delivery when he throws his knuckleball. He throws from a 3/4 arm slot with solid arm speed. His fastball topped out at 76 mph, but the young righty projects to throw much harder in the future. He has a few years to go and with a proper strength program and time, he could see velocity increase and be an effective pitcher at the next level. At the plate he hits from a straight away and crouched stance with solid bat speed. He has a line drive swing plane with good hands. McKnight is a young player with solid tools.
