We’ve seen Evans throw many times in the past and this might have been his best performance. We’d heard reports that he’d stepped up his raw stuff during the fall and the World Showcase confirmed it. Evans has a mature 6-1, 190 lb. body with a strong lower half that he uses well in his delivery. Evans fastball was 85-87 mph and he did a good job throwing it to spots both inside and outside to right hand hitters. Evans would turn this pitch over at 76-78 mph as sort of a combination change up/sinker. His curveball was sharp at times at 72-74 mph and had a consistent big break that will be intimidating to left handed hitters. Evans is a top notch student who has signed to attend South Alabama. It's been reported that Eric has been up around 90, so with his pitchability he should create some serious scouting interest.

Evans is a 6-0 left handed pitcher with a great knowledge of pitching and what he can do with the baseball. He threw his fastball in the 81-84 mph area in Lincoln and would sink and run it away from right handed hitters. In fact, Evans probably got more swings on fastballs out of the strike zone than he did on fastballs in the strike zone. Evans seems to realize this innate fact of pitching and works it well to his advantage. Evans’ curveball is a quality pitch at 72 mph and the fact he throws a true curve with that velocity compared to his fastball encourages us that there is more velocity in Evans arm for his fastball. We’d like to see more change ups to give the hitters another look but we’ve seen him use that pitch more in game, as opposed to showcase, situations. He can pitch at a high level and if he tacks on a little velocity he could become an impact type pitcher. Eric is a top student.

This kid is a very good baseball player/pitcher. He knows how to pitch and he's only an "04" Excellent arm action, he gots a lot of run on his 2-seamer. Should end up around 90 mph with his fluid arm action. Keep an eye on this one!

Evans is an interesting 04 lefty who could really develop. He knows how to pitch and should end up easily throwing mid to high 80s. He has three pitches and he fills up the strike zone.
PG Grade 8.0
