Jonathon Carlson is a 2009 LHP/1B with a 6'5'', 200 lb. frame from Rolling Meadow, IL who attends Rolling Meadows HS. Plus pitcher's build, present strength with more to come. Back leg was collapsing in delivery, FB mostly mid 80s. Nice change up with fade, good arm speed. Didn't throw breaking balls at this event. Has changed mechanics since last summer. We have seen him much better during season. Very good student, signed with Kentucky.

Jonathon Carlson is a 2009 LHP/1B with a 6'4'', 200 lb. frame from Rolling Meadow, IL who attends Rolling Meadows HS. Carlson has a very good pitchers build and uses a high 3/4 arm angle to pitch in the high 80's. The ball comes out of his hand well and he is deceptive and misses bats. His fastball has life and he has good off-speed. His curveball shows good potential and he also throws a change with sink. He also shows command and pitchability. He projects large and will throw 90+ in the near future. He is an outstanding student.

Deceptive delivery, hides ball, throws downhill, good out front. FB steady 88 mph, big tailing action, SL flashes spin/bite. Slows arm on CB/Chg, needs work. Loose wrist/easy arm, projects very well. Must follow. Very good student.

Jonathon Carlson is a 2009 LHP/1B with a 6'3'', 210 lb. frame from Rolling Meadow IL, who attends Rolling Meadows HS. He has a very strong and well developed body for a sophomore and has room to carry plenty more strength and weight. Carlson has a compact delivery and arm action that hides the ball effectively from the hitter. He throws the ball from a very tight release point near his ear and tends to open his front side early and land open in order to get his arm through. His arm is quick. Carlson's fastball was consistently in the 82-84 mph range and mostly straight, with a good downhill angle from his release point. His breaking ball was a 65 mph curveball and with his arm action he'll need to switch to a slider to have an effective breaking ball. He also mixed in some 72 mph change ups. Carlson has good physical tools and arm strength for his age; his next step will be to refine his mechanics to let his natural talent shine threw. Follow for improvement. Carlson is also an excellent student.
