2003 South Top Prospect Showcase
Babcock is a slick fielding shortstop that showed D1 ability with the bat and the glove. Defensively the only tool that did not display big time ability was his arm. His feet were quick, his range was very good and his actions are indicative of a veteran player. He profiles best as a 2B and with his athletic body and projectablitiy he might end up at SS down the road. He showed good hitting actions as well and took some big hacks in BP. His approach was good with a straight path to the ball and he produced lots of line drives. He is a player that can impact the game with the glove and bat. He also pitched at around 80 mph. Elliott is an excellent student.
