Suarez has an athleitc build, pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a quick arm, high knee lift with a full hip turn, hides ball well, mid 80's fastball with run, throws a tight break slider and a deceptive 11/5 curveball, flashes a sinking change up. Hits from a simple stance, shows good bat speed, consistent solid contact, line drive swing path, Defensively, quick transfer and release, solid actions. Named to top prospect team. David Suarez is a 2010 RHP/SS with a 5'11'', 165 lb. frame from Peru IL, who attends LaSalle-Peru HS. He has a very young, projectable build and a young face. Suarez has a complicated high energy delivery with a busy front side and an extended high 3/4's release. He does a good job repeating his delivery considering its complexity and it provides some deception on his pitches. Suarez's best pitch is a 71 mph curveball that he gets over very well from his high release point and gives hard 12/6 downer spin to. He probably abuses his age group thoroughly with his curveball and he shows good command of it as well. Suarez's fastball was 79-81 mph and he was up in the zone frequently with it. One of the best predictors of future fastball velocity gains is curveball velocity and Suarez throws his curveball very hard, so expect a mid-80's fastball before long. Toning down his delivery will help the process. Suarez is a good looking 2010 pitching prospect with a weapon.
