Matthew Balliet is a 2010 C/3B/P with a 5'11'', 170 lb. frame from Mission Viejo CA, who attends Mission Viejo HS. Matthew has a lean athletic build with some room to fill out. At the plate Matthew is a switch-hitter that looked a little better from the left side. He showed good balance in his swing and the ball jumped off his bat. His swing is solid right now for his age and he will only improve as he gets stronger. Behind the plate Matthew showed above average catch and throw tools. He has a clean accurate arm with a good exchange and nice footwork. On the mound Matthew has a loose easy arm action with nice armside run. He gets a good downhill plane on his pitches and has nice tempo in his delivery. Matthew is a good looking catching prospect that could attract the attention of many colleges in a few years.
