Birch is a small right-hander without the velocity of some bigger guys but he sure does know the game. He showed control of his pitches and control of himself with runners on base. He can repeat his release point from the wind-up and stretch and from a 3/4 arm slot he showed a smooth arm action. His fastball was in the 65-66 mph range touching 67 and his curve was a tough one to hit at 59-61mph. As he gets older we expect that he will gain strength and velocity.
