2005 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Edward Cassidy is a 2006 C/1B from Mosley High School in Lynn Haven, Florida, with a 6'0'', 180 lb. frame. Cassidy put on a hitting clinic at the showcase. He went 5 for 8 and hit the ball all over the field. He doesn't do anything fancy or try to hit the ball as hard as he can. He just centers the ball and gets quality base hits. He is a line drive hitter with good bat speed and has great hands. Cassidy makes adjustments on pitches and uses the whole field which will help him hit for a high average at the next level. Defensively he has a strong arm (78 mph) with quick feet and transfers that help produce pop times consistently under 2.00, even during the showcase games. Cassidy receives the ball well with soft hands, and has the reactions and mobility to block balls in the dirt. He is a good catch and throw guy who will make solid contact at the plate. He is also a very good student.
