2006 Atlantic Coast Underclass Showcase
Jason Patten is a 2008 RHP/OF from Archbishop Spalding HS in Davidsonville, MD with a 6'0", 175 lb. frame. Jason has an athletic build and was very impressive on the mound during the showcase. On the mound Jason throws from an OH arm slot with good arm speed and a clean arm action. His delivery is polished with repeatable mechanics and should add velocity as he gets older. Jason has the ability to turn his fastball over but will need to work on developing his off-speed pitches in the future. At the plate Jason showed good raw hitting tools. He has an calm easy swing that produces solid contact to all fields. Sometimes Jason has a tendency to loop under the ball and will need to work on keeping his swing plane level. In the outfield Jason showed good range in the outfield (7.05) with nice carry and online actions. Jason has the tools to be a solid college outfielder. Look for Jason to be a highest-level college prospect during his senior year.
