James Parr is a 2008 1B/OF with a 6'0'', 187 lb. frame from Irvine CA, who attends Woodbridge HS. He has a broad, strong, athletic build and is well put together. Parr has a chance to really get noticed in the summer of '07. His abilities grade out well as a college hitting prospect and then someday, possibly beyond. His bat stands out most right now, which is a good thing for a 1st baseman, corner outfielder. He starts with a slightly open stands and get his hands through the zone easily, with a short swing and good bat speed. The ball spins well off his bat and results in some carry. Parr is able to keep his bat in the zone for a long time as well and looks to have the ability to hit for average, as well as for some power. Though he is not a burner, he gets out of the box well and has good underway speed. His hands really do work well with the bat and maybe even better around the bag at 1st base. He showed soft hands and the ability to pick low throws well. He has a strong arm and decent speed that both would play at a corner outfield position. Parr is a solid student and his all-around ability profiles well for D1 baseball.
