2004 National Open Top Prospect Showcase
Alberto Hernandez is a junior college outfielder from Tampa, Florida, who had a little bit of an age advantage on most of the Showcase participants. He has a wiry 5'11" body with some good present strength. Hernandez’s speed and arm strength were playable. He also showed plus range in the OF making a sliding catch on the RF foul line. At the plate, Hernandez has a leg lift trigger and a slashing line drive swing from an upright stance. Hernandez showed the ability to hit the ball to all fields and had one nice double into the left field corner. He deserves to be followed.
