Carlos Rodriguez is a 2007 1B with a 6'3'', 230 lb. frame from Tamarac FL, who attends Coral Springs Charter. He has a big body with plus strength, although he could firm things up some. Rodriguez ran the 60 in 7.78 and threw 76 mph during infield drills. He showed good mobility at first base for his size and nice footwork around the bag. Rodriguez has an aggressive all or nothing approach at the plate, with some backward lean and plenty of loft in his swing. When he makes contact he can hit them long and high and that's what he's looking to do on every pitch. Rodriguez is susceptible to off speed pitches with this approach but is dangerous if the pitcher makes a mistake over the plate.
