Tom Pruim is a 2007 3B/OF with a 6'3'', 180 lb. frame from Orland Park IL, who attends Morgan Park Academy. He has a tall, lanky build with projectable strength. Pruim ran the 60 in 7.20 and threw 81 mph from the outfield and 74 mph during infield drills. He moves well for a tall player, especially in the outfield. His arm strength and overall actions are also much better right now in the outfield than at third base and that looks like his best position. Pruim hits from a balanced start but tends to jump forward severely with his upper half, leaving his lower half behind and taking away his leverage at contact. He has a level contact oriented swing and made most of his contact to the opposite field. Better balance in his swing, along with more physical strength, will help him in the future.
