LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2006 National Showcase
Casey Lytle is a 2007 right hand hitting outfielder from Chaparral HS, residing in Phoenix, AZ. He has a broad build and strong 6'2" 190 lb. frame that has plenty of room to continue to fill out. Lytle is a very good prospect, long term. The more he plays, the better he will get. There were times at PG National that his tools stood out quite clearly. He hits from a square stance and takes an aggressive hack. Lytle's swing makes a sweeping path through the zone and he showed good bat speed. There is clearly some raw power in that swing, which actually was better in the games than it was in the BP. Lytle worked to get behind the ball and direct his energy through the ball at contact. There was some lift in his swing and combined with his natural strength and bat speed, there are plenty of home runs in his future. Not a lot of the players at PG National were better with the bat in the games, but he was one that was. As a defensive player Lytle profiles well to one of the corners. The ball left his hand well and had some carry, with solid average arm strength. For some he will fit in right field, for others he will be a left fielder. Regardless, his bat has a chance to play as a corner outfielder and that is what is important. This is a big athlete with a chance to be a very good player in a few years. He ran 4.45 home/1st and posted a 6.96 60. Lytle will get scouted in the spring time by the area scouts and with a big spring he could get a chance to go out. A D1 program would do well to nab him and develop him into the upper round draft guy that he is capable of becoming, otherwise you may see him go the JC draft and follow route.
