Porter Hummel is a 2016 LHP/ with a 6-0 165 lb. frame from Hawarden, IA who attends West Sioux. Slender athletic frame with projection. Large leg lift to balance with a high 3/4 arm slot. Smooth delivery with a clean release. Creates good direction to plate with a tendency to pull head offline at times. Fastball shows good arm side life with late hard movement at times. Fastball ranged in the upper 70's to low 80's, topped at 82 mph. Shows command of fastball on both edges and late movement created weak contact early in counts. Curveball has tight spin with good depth, topped at 70 mph. Great feel for the curveball and can throw for strikes in positive and negative counts. Flashed a change up with some tailing actions, topped at 75 mph. Pounds the zone with all pitches and produced very quick innings. Left handed hitter with a pull side approach. Likes to be extended at contact with bat head out front. Higher ceiling as a pitching prospect at this time. Good student as well.
