2015 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Matt Manskar is a 2016 SS/2B, OF with a 6-0 180 lb. frame from San Clemente, CA who attends J Serra HS. Large, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength in frame, has some room to still fill out. Ran a 7.06 60-yard dash. Primary middle infielder, fields the ball out front and funnels well into body, short arm action and gets on top of throws, quick release, generates carry across the diamond with strength, stay low to and through the ball. Similar actions in the outfield, occasionally gets under throws but shows accuracy, short and compact release, works through the ball well with lower half. Right-handed hitter, starts with a slight crouch in stance with a medium hand set. Weight begins on back side, uses a toe tap trigger for timing. Employs a contact approach, line drive swing plane and has a feel for the barrel. Gets extended out front at times, creates consistent line drive contact to the middle and pull side parts of the field. Very good student.
