Nick Nelsen is a 2016 C/OF/3B with a 6-2 205 lb. frame from Blair, NE who attends Blair HS. Big strong athletic build. Compact actions behind the plate, especially for his size, gets rid of the ball quickly, can improve footwork moving into the throw for more arm strength, accurate and repeats his mechanics, 2.00 best pop time, works hard blocking and receiving. Right handed hitter, exaggerated inside path swing approach, hands stays tight and under the ball, opposite field to mid field contact, has the strength to drive the ball with a different approach. Also pitched, works from the stretch and stays tall over the rubber, over the top arm action, low effort release. Fastball topped at 80 mph, mostly straight, short curveball break. Good student.
